Whatever Happened to the Good Old Christmas Cookie Exchange?

Simplify This Holiday Season with a Christmas Cookie Exchange

I remember the days where my family and friends would participate in a Christmas cookie exchange. In fact, they used to be quite common. Nowadays it’s hard to find anyone participating in this age-old tradition. Well this year I’m calling for the revival of the Christmas cookie exchange. Enjoying Christmas cookies with a cup of hot cocoa or mug of apple cider is the ultimate way to end a busy day of shopping. Making all those Christmas cookies can be time-consuming, though. That is where a Christmas cookie exchange comes in.

Getting People Involved

It is so easy to create a Christmas cookie exchange. Ask your neighbors, relatives, or coworkers if they would be interested in swapping Christmas cookies this season. Every person who wants to participate will make their top two Christmas cookies, but they will make enough for every person that is participating in the Christmas exchange. The idea is brilliant because each person can focus on their specialty recipes that they are really good at, yet they get to have a large variety of cookies to enjoy.

Planning the Christmas Cookie Exchange

Determine how many people are going to participate in your Christmas cookie exchange. Next, decide exactly what recipes everyone plans to make. It’s a good idea to stick with your best, time-tested recipes. Make sure you set a date and location for the actual cookie swap to take place. If you have five participants and each participant makes two varieties of cookies, you will end up having eight additional types of cookies besides the ones you made yourself! It is much easier to make larger quantities of two types of cookies than it is to make eight different varieties of cookies.

Make sure you correctly calculate how many cookies you will need to bake. Each participant basically has to make enough cookies for everyone else. Usually each participant should make at least a dozen cookies for each individual. And don’t forget to include a copy of the recipes you use in case others want to try them out.

If you have never before participated in a Christmas cookie exchange, you should definitely organize one this holiday season. A Christmas cookie exchange is a great way to get in the spirit of the season and enjoy all the wonderful cookies that your friends have shared with each other.

i really enjoyed reading your blog. cookie exchange is a wonderful way to bulid strong ties with others and celebrate christmas in style.i have also come across some really interesting stuff regarding christmas on Christmas Blog.
check it out.

Cookie exchanges can be fabulous, but I always feel cheated when I've made a fabulous Christmas cookie and some people have brought a simple peanut butter or chocolate chip. I think if you are participating in a CHRISTMAS cookie exchange, the cookies you bring should be special holiday cookies. I take special pride in packaging them beautifully and really making them look like a gift. It doesn't take that much extra time to make these little bundles special.
