Hi Noel. It’s Faith. I totally agree. Finding unique Christmas gifts can really be a pain. That’s half the reason I’m so fed up with the commercialization of Christmas. Do you think the stores really care whether or not you’re getting great Christmas gifts for your friends? Of course not! They only care if you’re spending your money and if it’s mass-produced junk, it’s no skin off their backs. It makes me sick.
No, I’m not going to be a total Ebeneezer Scrooge this year. I’m giving unique Christmas gifts to my friends, but they’re all going to be homemade. I’ve got candle kits, baked goods, jars with recipes all ready to go, you name it, I’m going to try to make it. I think it’s the best way to go and the fewer dollars I spend at the stores, hopefully the clearer my anti-commercialization message will be to them.
I wish everyone would stop buying into the commercialization of Christmas and would stop spending their money at the stores when the holiday season rolls around. Black Friday reminds me of Dawn of the Living Dead with half-awake parents fighting for spots in line for the hottest toys of the year. Give those kids a unique Christmas present – give them a savings bond or stock certificates. Something useful.
