Three Big Christmas Gift No Nos
Don't Make These Christmas Gift Mistakes
Each and every year at least one person we know makes a Christmas gift boo boo. Whether it be presenting a present unwrapped (no men, this is not okay) or re-gifting to someone who originally gave the gift being returned, humiliating moments are in abundance this time of year. Want to save yourself some embarrassment during the holiday season? Avoid these three Christmas gift faux paus.
1. Don't Get Too Personal
Unless you're buying a gift for your significant other or a close friend or family member, don't buy something to personal. Lingerie is usually a no no, and jewelry might not be appropriate either. If you're not close to the recipient, the less intimate your gift should be.
2. Do Not Give Unwrapped Presents
No matter what your gift recipient tells you, it is not okay to hand someone an unwrapped Christmas gift. Why? Because an unwrapped gift says "I didn't care enough to take the time to present this to you properly." Sound like something you'd want to say to someone? I didn't think so.
3. Don't Leave Anyone Ungifted
No matter how many times you've checked your Christmas gift shopping list, you're probably forgetting someone. Because of this you want to make sure you buy a few gifts that can be given to practically anyone (Godiva chocolate, pasta gift baskets, etc.) That way, when you suddenly realize someone had been forgotten, you can simply add their name to the tag and you're covered.
While it's the thought that counts, remember that a bit of etiquette goes into giving gifts too. These three tips on avoiding the Christmas gift taboos can definitely help you avoid embarrassment this holiday season.
