Taking a minute to remember the true reason for the holiday season.
With all of us getting so frazzled by the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, I just wanted to take a moment to make sure that we all sit back and remember the true reason for the holiday season.
A Special Gift
Right about now I know that all my kids are thinking about is Christmas presents, and with so many presents on the way, it’s easy to overlook the real reason they’re getting presents and the best present that was given to them over two thousand years ago. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t let the kids have fun and that looking forward to Christmas presents is wrong. I’m just saying we should gently remind our children, and ourselves, that there is a reason that we celebrate this holiday season.
A Night of Scripture
This year, rather than counting down to Christmas with chocolate advent calendars, why not count down to Christmas by reading a portion of scripture each night. Children love being read to and reading about the story of Jesus and what he means to the holiday season is a great way to celebrate the true spirit of Christmas. This way you’ll not only be spending quality time together this holiday season, you’ll be teaching your kids what the holiday season is really all about!
