Where did Christmas trees originate?
Hi everyone. Larry here. I was just looking at our Christmas tree and got to thinking about how beautiful and amazing Christmas trees really are. I mean, at what other time of year can we bring an actual tree in our house. What would your neighbors think if you brought a tree in your home in the middle of July? Yes, Christmas is definitely a special time and the Christmas trees make this time of year even more special.
Not only do we get to bring Christmas trees into our homes at this time of year, we get to decorate them too. After all, that’s more than half the fun of having Christmas trees in our homes.
Well, looking at the Christmas tree and thinking about all of the festivities that surround Christmas trees got me to wondering about the origin of Christmas trees. After all, I’ve heard so many conflicting histories it’s enough to make your head spin. I did some research and found some sites with good information about the history of Christmas trees. Have you ever heard of a Chrismon tree?
This tree is decorated solely with ornaments that relate to the life of Jesus and the Bible. They are normally homemade ornaments. Our church has a special service where the children bring the ornaments and put them on our tree in the sanctuary.
