Start a New Tradition By Giving Holiday Ornaments

Holiday Ornaments Will Become Treasured Items

If you have small children, this Christmas consider giving them holiday ornaments. Sure, your kids will probably love the newest toys and board games, so give those too -- but holiday ornaments make an excellent Christmas gift. In fact, giving holiday ornaments can be a great way to start a fun and sentimental tradition for your family.

How Ours Got Started

Our tradition with holiday ornaments began when my daughter was a young child. Her aunt started giving one holiday ornament to my daughter each year. After a few years, my daughter had several cherished holiday ornaments. Giving a new ornament each year is a great tradition to start when your children are little, but even if they are older it is never too late to start this great tradition.

A Childhood Legacy

Giving holiday ornaments each year is really a wonderful tradition. Each year your children can see their collection of holiday ornaments grow. There are holiday ornaments that are specific to a child’s age. You can purchase holiday ornaments that say, “Baby’s First Christmas.” You can also get personalized holiday ornaments. If you have three children, you can get them each the same ornament with the only difference being their first name added to it. If you have nieces and nephews, don’t forget to include them in this fun tradition. They will certainly appreciate receiving holiday ornaments too.

The tradition of giving holiday ornaments each year creates such anticipation for the holiday season. Your kids might get excited by the latest gadget or electronic toy, but, believe me, they will also get excited to see what new ornament they can add to their growing collection of holiday ornaments. You might even try giving the new holiday ornaments a week before Christmas, so your children can add them to the Christmas tree.

Something To Take With Them

When your children grow up and leave the nest, which they inevitably will, they will have a nice collection of holiday ornaments to decorate their first Christmas tree with when they are living on their own. My Christmas tree has a dozen holiday ornaments that my husband received from his godmother every December.

This year consider starting this wonderful tradition. A collection of holiday ornaments will evoke nostalgia and fond memories for years to come.
