Imagine Christmas without a Christmas Stocking

The Christmas Stocking Can Liven Up Christmas Eve

When you start your Christmas decorating this year, make sure that each family member has a giant Christmas stocking. Uncovering the contents of a Christmas stocking is just as much fun as unwrapping presents. If you have a larger Christmas stocking, you will be able to fill it with more fun stuff.

Each Should Have Their Own

You might want to get a matching Christmas stocking for every family member, or you can get each family member a Christmas stocking that is related to their interests. Young children often love a Christmas stocking that displays their favorite cartoon character.

To Wrap or Not To Wrap?

You have two choices for deciding what to do with the small gifts you put in a Christmas stocking, you can either wrap them or leave them unwrapped. It seems like different families traditionally do this one way or the other. Some families I know wrap all the gifts they put in each family member’s Christmas stocking, and others just throw the items in as is.

Why Wait?

A Christmas stocking is a fun and highly-anticipated part of Christmas morning, but some families have each family member open their Christmas stocking on Christmas Eve, and then wait until Christmas morning to open their presents. What you choose to do is up to you, but opening your Christmas stocking on Christmas Eve night can feed your sense of curiosity and excitement.

A Fireplace Isn't Mandatory

If you don’t have a fireplace, don’t worry. There are still many places you can put your Christmas stocking. Try hanging each family member’s Christmas stocking from the railing if you have a two-story home. You can also hang them from the bedroom doorknob of each family member.

You can recycle an old Christmas stocking in several different ways. One popular use of old Christmas stockings is to make a Christmas quilt out of the cut up material. The holiday wouldn’t be the same without a Christmas stocking, so don’t forget to prominently display yours so Santa doesn’t miss it.
