How To Pick Educational Toys That Are Fun Too

Playing and learning go hand in hand with educational toys

Education toys are best way to sneak in a little learning while your children play. And educational tools have come a long way from the flash cards and counting tools from before. These toys are clever and fun -- even I've played with a few of them after the kids have gone to bed.

Combining technology and fun

The easiest way to give educational toys is with computer games or video games. Of course, this will take a little research to make sure that they're age appropriate, but there are hundreds to choose from.

You might want to give educational toys that teach counting or languages.

For the older kids, you can give educational toys that will help with math and science as well.

And many of these games don't even seem like educational toys after a while because the children become so focused on winning. Or they become focused on beating their parents, as I've found to be the case.

Did you know. . . The poem that is known as "The Night before Christmas" was originally entitled, "A Visit from Saint Nicholas." The well-loved poem was written by Clement Moore for his children and some holiday guests. One of his guests sent the poem anonymously to a New York newspaper where it was published and became famous.

Making learning active

Another great way to give educational toys is to combine the outdoors with learning.

You can give pictures books of nature or animals and take the children on hikes to make a game out of identifying them. Each child can keep a journal of the things that they have found when matching them up to the pictures.

As educational toys, guide and field books encourage learning and questioning.

Educational toys don't need to be expensive or boring in order to inspire children to be curious about the world around them.

Giving educational toys as Christmas presents will ensure that your child or children will continue to want to learn and want to grow throughout the years that follow.
