How Many Christmas Trees For 2006?

Are Two Christmas Trees Better Than One?

If you have a large family, sibling squabbles tend to erupt over decorating the Christmas tree. I can remember my brother and I arguing about whose ornaments would get the choicest spots on the tree. In fact, we were both guilty of moving ornaments around during the Christmas season when the other wasn’t looking. I’d move his to the back and mine to the front, he’d do the same. Eventually, my mother got sick of us fighting over whose ornaments went where and got two Christmas trees for each Christmas season. If you think that’s a crazy idea, you may want to think twice…

Two Are Better Than One

Having two Christmas trees is really not as crazy as it sounds and it doesn’t necessarily have to mean twice the mess. You can have one artificial Christmas tree and one real Christmas tree. That way you will only have to clean up thoroughly after one tree while still getting the benefits of two.

It Takes Planning

If you decide to have two Christmas trees, you should definitely know beforehand where you plan to place both Christmas trees in your home. You can place one of the Christmas trees in your family room and put your presents under that tree, and you can place the second Christmas tree in your living room. If you don’t have a family room and a living room, you may be able to find another spot for your second Christmas tree, like the dining room or child’s bedroom.

Play It Up

If you want to diffuse any sibling squabbles, you can make having two Christmas trees into a bit of a game. Try putting each of your child’s names in a hat and then draw names to see who gets to decorate which tree. This can be a fun way to get both Christmas trees decorated. Children love to help out, so this a great way to include them but not allow one sibling to take charge and overshadow everyone else.

Many families really like having two Christmas trees. It allows them to have one well-decorated Christmas tree that guests see, and the other tree can be decorated more “creatively.”

If you decide to have two Christmas trees, take inventory of your Christmas ornaments to see if you have enough decorations for both Christmas trees. Plan ahead. Go shopping and get any additional decorations you might need. You’ll be surprised to discover that having two Christmas trees simply means twice the fun.
