For Those "Oh I Forgot" Christmas Gift Moments
Never Be Caught Without a Christmas Gift Again
It never failed -- each and every year I was caught forgetting at least one person's Christmas gift. Whether it be the housekeeper, the newspaper delivery guy or the teacher's assistant who took a liking to my daughter, I was always caught without at least one gift each holiday season. I can honestly say, over the past few years, it's never happened again. Why? Because I got wise. If you want to make sure you always have a gift on hand (even if you didn't plan on giving it) here are some Christmas gift tips you can't live without.
Keep It On Hand
There are a few things I buy at the beginning of each holiday season to keep on hand. If you never want to be caught without a gift to give, you should keep an inventory of these things too.
First, get a few $20 gift cards. I buy three each year -- one to Best Buy, one to Kohl's and one to the local grocery store. If I'm caught without a gift, I fill out the "To" and "From" lines and there we go -- I've got the perfect gift to give no matter who the recipient may be.
I also keep at least 6 or 7 gift bags on hand. Smaller ones that I fill with odds and ends like chocolate oranges (you can buy them in cases of 6 at Amazon.com) and travel-sized Bath and Body Works products.
Again, have the gift bags put together beforehand and then if you're caught without a Christmas gift, simply fill out the gift tag and you've got a great instant present -- and no one has to be the wiser.
And The Secret's Out...
So that's how I do it. That's how, for the past 3 years, I have never been caught without a gift to give. In fact, I've been known to keep 3 of those pre-assembled gift bags in the trunk of my car. Then, no matter where I am, I have a Christmas gift to give should the occasion call for it.
