Today is Christmas and we'll be leaving you till next year. Once again, it's been a wonderful ride. We survived the Wii and managed to avoid getting trampled in the PS3 crowds. As a parting tip, I'll let you in on some great advice on storing each and every Christmas ornament you need to put away over the next week or so.
Handle With Care
After the holiday season is over you want to take special care when you are storing each Christmas ornament. Certainly not every Christmas ornament you own is very delicate, but there are certainly special considerations to keep in mind when you are packing a delicate Christmas ornament.
The cost of a Christmas ornament is one consideration to keep in mind when you are packing up your Christmas ornaments. If a Christmas ornament costs a lot you are going to definitely want to take special care of it. If you spent a small fortune on a particular Christmas ornament (or ornaments) you are certainly not going to want it to end up in a heap with your ornaments form the dollar store.
Invest A Little
There are specifically designed storage units that can make storing each Christmas ornament easier. These units can be found at home improvements stores such as Home Depot, discount retailers such as Walmart, and specialty stores such as Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
Get Creative
If you don’t have a specially designed storage unit that is intended to store Christmas ornaments in, you can still store them safely. Make sure you wrap each Christmas ornament delicately in tissue paper. Avoid newsprint since the ink can rub off on elegant Christmas ornaments. Whatever box you end up storing your Christmas ornaments in, make sure that you don’t place a heavier box on top of it. That is a surefire way to end up with a lot of broken Christmas ornaments.
Sometimes a Christmas ornament might not have cost a fortune, but it might have sentimental value. If that is the case, you might want to store those ornaments separately from all your other ornaments. If you have any old pieces of furniture, such as a dresser that you planned to get rid of, you can possibly convert it to a neat storage center for your Christmas ornaments. You can devote a drawer to your Christmas balls, another drawer to Christmas lights, and another drawer to Christmas ornaments. However, you end up storing each Christmas ornament, make sure you give some thought to your new organization plan between now and Christmas.
