2008's Top Christmas Gifts for Girls
Christmas gifts for girls this year are even more "techie" than ever before... even Barbie's getting in on it!
Dollhouses, play kitchens, Barbie and Polly Pockets have been on lists of Christmas gifts for girls for many years. But in 2008, there are even more hi tech toys on these girlie lists.
1. Nintendo Wii - Wii Music and We Cheer
Nintendo really wants girls (and their moms too!) to start playing Wii with the boys in their lives. Family Bowling Night is fun and all, and the boys (and their dads) have all those Lego Wii games to choose from.. but girls are finally getting some of their own games on with the likes of Wii Music and We Cheer for the Wii.
Wii Music allows you to be the leader of your own band, playing a huge array of diverse instruments. And, unlike some of the other music games out there, this one won't penalize the musician if they don't play perfectly. A great way to ease up on some of the frustration with the littler players.
Wii Cheer allows your littlest cheerleader to get their game on. Shake those controllers and pretend you're cheering on the home team. Lots of fun for kids (and Moms!) and great exercise too.
The Wii retails for around $300 and the games start at around $35.
2. VTech Digital Camera Pink
This is one of my favorites for young girls. Your budding Annie Leibovitz can practice photographing the next Hannah Montana in the privacy of their very own rooms.
This sturdy, kid-friendly digital camera will indulge their creativity and keep their sticky fingers off Mom and Dad's Canon. It's got large and easy-to-use navigational buttons and even a few basic creative touches for young girls to get started learning how to edit their own pictures. Retails for around $40 and appropriate for ages 3 and up.
3. My Meebas Game
The My Meebas game is pretty new and tearing up the top lists for girls all over as a fun hand held game with a squishy squeezy friend to care for inside. Choose from the multi colored tubes representing attributes like intelligence, love, friendship or happiness. Over time your girl will nurture and help their interactive pet to grow by playing games and various activities.
The more time she spends with her little Meeba the faster it will grow. Once fully grown the top pops off and your little girl has a plush little friend to snuggle. Awww... seriously cute learning opportunity priced around $20.
4. Jakks Pacific G2 Game Girl Hannah Montana Guitar Video Game - ($59.99)
What Christmas list for girls would be complete without the "It" girl herself?
This Hannah guitar is something your little girl can dance and sing along with all day long (if you let her). The guitar plugs in to the TV and your little rocker chick can match notes and beats to play along with Hannah!
This guitar retails for around $60.
5. My First Dance Dance Revolution ($65.00)
Sticking with the plug n play idea -- here's another dancing option for the whole family to enjoy! It's compact enough to hide in the entertainment center and quickly pull out for a fun family dance party after dinner.
My First Dance Dance Revolution plugs directly into the TV and has multiple difficulty settings for all ages and "talents". This is a guaranteed hit on the list of Christmas gifts for girls this year. It retails for around $65.00.
6. Radica Electronic Password Journal ($69.00)
One of the first rites of passage for young girls is the "secret" diary. Well, technology has not let our little ladies down! Radica Electronic Password Journal makes it really tough for anyone to sneak a peek at your girl's private thoughts. The journal will only open after providing it with your password and uses voice recognition programming as well. Super stealthy!
This modern day diary comes complete with a dual light switch, paper, a secret storage spot, and little clips for marking pages. This journal is recommended for girls 8 years old and up and sells for around $70.
7. Littlest Pet Shop Digital Electronic Interactive Organizer Pink
Littlest Pet Shop fever isn't going anywhere this year! This little handheld game for your pet lover has more than 25 on-screen interactive games for playtime.
It comes with a stylus pen to help her groom her new digital pet. She can do some shopping for clothing for her furry or feathered friend and even feed her cutie. Your little pet lover's day will be complete with this little treat, which retails for $35.
8. HSM 3 Sing Together Dolls
Gabriella, Troy, Sharpey? We want to sing with you! These little dolls come complete with a microphone for her to sing along to songs from High School Musical 3. And I suppose a few moms can join in as well right? This one retails for around $23.00.
9. Hannah Montana in Concert Collection
And here she is again. Before it was just her guitar, but every list of Christmas gifts for girls has at least one of Hannah herself right? The "in Concert Collection" dolls have plenty of chart topping songs and phrases from the show. ("Sweet Nibblets" anyone?)
The doll has a new glow in the dark microphone and your little Hannah darling gets a matching glow in the dark bracelet. Give the gift of Hannah to your favorite little girl. This one sells for around $25.
10. Barbie Girls 1GB MP3 Player - Gold - Store 240 Songs
And we'll finish off our top ten with look at Barbie all teched up going into her 50th year in the version of a 1GB MP3 Player. This is not only a storage device and player for your girl's favorite music. This is also a Barbie girl dream connection for her computer.
She can connect to the PC using the USB cord and unlock tons of new features on BarbieGirls.com. It also comes with a second fashion (to make your mp3 stylish after all), earbuds, belt clip, docking station and reusable storage case. All of this makes it a virtual steal at $40.00.
So there you have it, 2008's top ten list of Christmas gifts for girls. We've got a complete list for the boys too! Be sure to keep them handy as you're doing your online or toy store shopping!
