Is Re-Gifting Really the Bane of Christmas Etiquette?

Time To Talk About Re-Gifting

There is one word that some etiquette mavens dread during the holiday season, and that word is re-gifting. Yes, my friends, it is the bane of proper holiday gift giving -- at least according to some. The question is, does the act of re-gifting really warrant such disdain and contempt? Absolutely not. You can re-gift in style, just keep the following in mind...

Never Be Caught Without a Christmas Gift Again

It never failed -- each and every year I was caught forgetting at least one person's Christmas gift. I can honestly say, over the past few years, it's never happened again. Why? Because I got wise. If you want to make sure you always have a gift on hand (even if you didn't plan on giving it) here are some Christmas gift tips you can't live without.

What's Up with the Nintendo Wii?

Is It Another Crazy Christmas For Nintendo Wii?

Last holiday season people stood in line for hours (and sometimes overnight) to get their hands on a Nintendo Wii in time for Christmas. The supply was ridiculously low and demand was ridiculously high. Unfortunately, there's still a supply issue with these most-wanted game systems. Will it be resolved in time for Christmas? Here's what I found out.

Are We Really Trying to Profit Off the Hot Christmas Toys Already?

Let's Back Off the Hot Christmas Toys For Just One Year

It never fails... Each and every year the lemmings stand in line for hours (crazy hours) in the freezing cold trying to get their hands on the hot Christmas toys of the year. Some have noble intentions -- wanting to make sure their child has this year's hot Christmas toy under the tree. Others, however, just see dollar signs and try to profit off of a parent's desire to provide for their child. People -- can we please take one year off from this madness?

Christmas Gift Spending Limits

Set Christmas Gift Spending Limits This Christmas Season

I love the Christmas season – it’s just that spending limits and Christmas gifts have never gone hand-in-hand for me and I just hate the financial aftermath of Christmas shopping. I tend to go a bit overboard when it comes to Christmas gifts and my pocketbook takes the hit. This Christmas I’m doing something different and if you’re anything like me, you might want to give it a try. I’m going to insist that my wife and I try a brave new Christmas tradition -- setting Christmas gift spending limits.

How Much is That iDog in the Window?

iDog is the hottest new holiday pet.

Hi everyone. Noel here. I’m almost done with Christmas shopping. There’s just one more thing on my list -- an iDog for my niece. No, not a real, live dog -- an iDog. I guess my sister should be thankful that my niece isn’t asking for a real dog. :-)

An Elmo Under the Tree

Elmo Knows Your Name is Coming Home for Christmas

Hi everyone. Henry here. Well, my four year old daughter came up to me today demanding an Elmo doll for Christmas. But not just any Elmo doll. This Elmo doll has to know her name. Thank God they actually make the darned thing or I’d be in a mess since my four year old doesn’t understand the concept that she can’t always get what she wants, especially when Santa’s supposed to bring it.

Furby’s Back!

Furby is back and better than ever.

Hi everyone. Noel here. Do you remember just a few short years ago how everyone was kicking and clawing their way through retail store lines just to get the elusive Furby doll. Finding one was like searching for a needle in a haystack. If you did get a Furby that year, you probably got up at some unreal hour to wait in line in the freezing cold. I know that’s what I did. Well guess what? Furby’s back!

What’s So Amazing about Amazing Amanda?

Why Amazing Amanda is taking the country by storm.

Ya Gotta Love Christmas Shopping

Hey Faith, it’s Henry. Calm down. You’re worse than my wife. The commercialization of Christmas shopping is half of the fun of it and trust me, if I were to try to give my kids a stock certificate or a savings bond, they’d have my head for Christmas dinner.

You’re right about one thing though. Fighting the lines at Christmas shopping is a total nightmare and the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday) is a complete madhouse. I’m old enough to remember the Cabbage Patch Kids nightmare of Christmas past. I think parents were actually biting each other over those darn things. Seriously, it’s no joke.

I Want It For Christmas

Hi everyone. Henry here. I want, I want, I want. I’m sick of hearing it! It’s only October and my kids are already telling me what they want for Christmas. Well, they actually started making their Christmas list in June, but it’s really starting to get on my nerves.

I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m all for starting the Christmas spirit early in October, but I’m just not ready to hear the insistent whining about who wants what this year. If they don’t stop it, they’re going to wind up getting nothing but a pile of coal in their stockings.

The iPod is Great, But...

A thorny iPod problem

Henry here:

Three weeks ago, I got my son Apple's new iPod nano for his birthday. I don't think I've seen him without it since!

But now it's just a couple of weeks later, and the iPod nano no longer the latest and coolest thing. (grumble) Apple just announced new iPods with video -- and now Bob is hinting he wants the new iPod with video for Christmas.

Bratz: A Passion for Fashion

Hi everyone, it’s Noel Jameson here. My five year old daughter is running around the house singing that she has a “passion for fashion” and it’s starting to get to me so I just had to vent. In case you haven’t heard, that’s the motto of the latest doll that every child must have – the Bratz doll.

What happened to the days when being a brat was a bad thing? Nowadays it seems that it’s cool to be a brat. In case you don’t know what a Bratz doll is, let me enlighten you a bit.
