Christmas Decorating: Too Much, Too Little or None at All
How Much Christmas Decorating is Too Much?
We see it every year -- houses that have so many lights it is blinding, and others that don't have a single porch light on to light the way. It was this thought that got me to thinking about how do people decide what amount of decorating is enough. The answer to this question is often the result of several factors. Here are some points to ponder...
The More the Merrier
For those who have the time and the money, going all out on Christmas decorating is a must. From lights by the thousands to numerous lawn decorations, this is the only way for some people to really get into the holiday spirit.
There are so many types of decorations, I often wonder why more people don't put up as many as they can. This does not, however, mean that the families who don't get their decorations up don't enjoy the holiday season. It only means they prefer to celebrate in a less decorative manner.
Less is More, But What is None?
They may seems like the Scrooges of the block -- you know the people who do not put up a single Christmas decoration nor utter a single merry Christmas... You may, however, be surprised to find that your first assumption is not an accurate one. There are many possible reasons why some households do not decorate during the holiday season. Age, religious views and even family needs and schedules can play a part.
All or Nothing, It Matters Not
When it comes down to it, Christmas decorating is just a reflection of how each of us chose to show our recognition of the holiday. Some of us like it big and bright, while others may prefer the pure and simple. No matter which way you do it all comes down to remembering that we are all different. No matter what we should all be free to make outdoor Christmas decorating the brightest or the calmest time of the season.
