Christmas Carolers Etiquette

How to treat Christmas carolers when they come to your door.

It’s that time of year when Christmas carolers may very well be knocking on your door to treat you to their entertaining musical talents. But what exactly is the etiquette when it comes to Christmas carolers knocking on your door? What should you do and what shouldn’t you do?

You Can’t Hide

If you’re one of those people who doesn’t like Christmas carolers, you’re just going to have to grin and bear it. It’s not proper etiquette to pretend you don’t hear the doorbell ringing and it’s definitely rude if the Christmas carolers know you’re flat out ignoring them. While you may not be in the holiday spirit, that doesn’t mean you have to be rude to those who are.

Refreshments or Not?

It’s been a long debate whether you should invite Christmas carolers in for refreshments or not. In today’s day and age, it might not be the safest thing to do if you don’t know who the carolers are. However, if the Christmas carolers are neighbors or friends that you know, then by all means invite them into your home for refreshments if you have them handy.

Applause Anyone?

Definitely applaud the Christmas carolers when they are done treating you to their musical talents. After all, everyone likes to be shown appreciation for their efforts.
