Buying Your First Real Christmas Tree
How to buy a live Christmas tree
Hi everyone, Henry here. If you’ve always had artificial trees and you’re thinking of getting a live Christmas tree this year, good for you. There’s nothing quite like the fragrance of a fresh Christmas tree in your home. But before you go and pick out the Christmas tree you think may be perfect for you, take some of my Christmas tree shopping advice.
Buy Fresh
No matter how pretty a tree is, unless it’s fresh, don’t buy it. The limbs should be pliable and you should be able to run your hands across the needles of the Christmas tree without the needles falling off. It’s normal to have a few brown needles fall off here and there, but if green needles are falling off, you have a problem.
Take Measurements
Before you go shopping for your tree, take measurements of where you’re going to display your tree. You need to know how wide and tall your Christmas tree can be. Then, when you’re shopping for your Christmas tree, you can measure the tree to make sure it will fit in the space you have for it.
Plain Water vs. Sugar Water
When you get the tree home, make sure you put the trunk in water. Sugar water is not necessary as it has been proven that plain water will keep a tree fresh just as long as sugar water will.
