Are You Ready for Black Friday Shopping this Year?

Black Friday Shopping is Right Around the Corner

Thanksgiving is going to be here before you know it, and that means it's time to plan your Black Friday shopping. If you're one of the many who take advantage of the deals to be had on this shopping holiday, you'll be happy to know this year will have an abundance of steals to choose from. Here are a few tips to help you navigate the deals.

To Stay or Go

First thing you need to decide is will you be doing your Black Friday shopping online or will you be going to the brick and mortar stores? Online shopping does have its advantages. You won't have to fight the crowds, leave the house in the wee hours of the morning or deal with ridiculous check-out lines.

Online shopping is not, however, perfect. You'll be taking the chance that the store you're shopping at can handle the holiday bandwidth and that your order will process before they sell out of the item you want.

For the Brick and Mortar Shoppers

For those of you who are going to try and brave the crowds, there are a few things you need to do to make your experience more bearable. First, if you want the Black Friday door-buster specials, get in line at least an hour or two before the store opens. People have been known to wait in line for hours and hours just to get a $19 DVD player or the hot toy of the year.

Also, make sure you're prepared to deal with people who aren't exactly nice. Black Friday can bring out the worst in some of us. That means elbows, nasty looks and even some not-so-pretty words. Keep everything in perspective, wear a smile, do your shopping and get back home in one piece.

Remember, Black Friday shopping is for those of us who consider shopping to be a marathon sport. It's definitely not for the feint of heart or the mild and timid.
