Are We Really Trying to Profit Off the Hot Christmas Toys Already?

Let's Back Off the Hot Christmas Toys For Just One Year

It never fails... Each and every year the lemmings stand in line for hours (crazy hours) in the freezing cold trying to get their hands on the hot Christmas toys of the year. Some have noble intentions -- wanting to make sure their child has this year's hot Christmas toy under the tree. Others, however, just see dollar signs and try to profit off of a parent's desire to provide for their child. People -- can we please take one year off from this madness?

We're Starting Already

Already I've seen numerous articles, blog posts and speculation about what this year's hot Christmas toys will be. It amazes me that people are actually talking about buying them and stocking up the shelves over the next few weeks to sell for a profit when the holiday draws near. What's wrong with this picture?

What If...

Ask yourself this -- what if all those people who bought four or five of this year's hot Christmas toys only bought one? How about, instead of buying as many as possible to resell at a higher price to others, they only bought one and left the rest on the shelf?

Guess what?

There'd probably be no real shortage of this year's hot Christmas toys. There'd be no need for hard-working parents to spend three to four times what a toy is really worth to provide their child with a Christmas dream. There'd be no waiting in line for hours (or sometimes overnight). There'd be a type of peace that the holiday season hasn't seen in a while.

Resist The Temptation

So do me a favor -- do everyone a favor. This year, when we do find out which toys are the hot Christmas toys of the year, don't go out and horde them. Buy one (or two if you have two kids) and let the rest be. Leave some for the others. Let's not forget what the season is about. Nothing should come in the way of that -- least of all hot Christmas toys.
